Matthias "Matz" Flores began DJing and MCing in the late eighties. The affinity for England club music was always particularly large, as well as the eternal solidarity to the old-venerable mothers of the club music: Hip Hop and Reggae / Dub. In 1993 when Matz got to hear the first Hardcore Jungle tunes of the Ragga Twins or Rebel MC, it had happened around him. Naturally, he continued to be active in the sound system thing ,wanted however to produce his own tracks
He joined forces with J.Buzz and Jackie Hardt, forming the production team Kingpress, that later became part of the GUSH COLLECTIVE. Its discography re-clamps approx. 60 (!) publications, its tracks are on labels such as Typhoon, bass werk (!!!! bass werk 01!!!), KONTER, Wicked Wax, Pathfinder, to find Draft. ... 1998/99 J. Buzz and Herb LF created the Gush Collective. They started a Garage / Breaks / 2Step collective with producers, DJs, and MCs, residing in Dortmund, Duesseldorf and Essen. Matt and J.Buzz created the producer duo 2Smart and released some Maxis on Gush Collective and was naturally also a component of the two longplayers. Cooperation with Zed bias and Tyree Cooper at this time belong to the high points of its career. ... During these days 2Step bloomed, nevertheless Matt wanted to maintain his DnB position and formed his own Drum & bass label COMPILER.
... in 2001 Matt felt inspired by our first Compilation COMBINATION TRAFFIC. A mad solo track came out for Traffic II: PURSUIT OF HAPINESS. Matt Flores Imprint was born. ... A short time later his 3-Track-Maxi DIGITAL SELF came out, which built on the path laid down by PURSUIT OF HAPINESS and by realeasing his album METAWORLD in 2003 he put Duesseldorf on the map. After the sucessfull album he released a few maxis and remixes, further developing his musical styles toward House and beyond.
He released LISSI/METAJACK on combination records, which emerges again and again in the Mixtapes of John Tejada and is recognized well by many other Djs. Or last summers OUTER RIM EP on METROMUSIC, which made it to place 3 in the Groove Charts and is often played by such Djs as AME. The Compost Black label 05 12" was even more successful selling out in just four days:
